Shen’s undefeated team

by Nicole Mclarney

The Shenendehowa girls swim team has been undefeated for the past two years in both regular seasons. A swimmer on the team for the past three years, Sara Tudor, explained what the coach expects from the girls. “He wants us to try hard at every practice. Coach [Chuck] Dunham also says at every meet, ‘give 110% effort.’”

The swimmer remarked she expects as much effort from the new coach as he does from the girls. She says that she expects him “to work me hard.” The coach gives them speeches before every meet to pump them up for their big race. “They have to be motivating” said Tudor.

The girls are doing absolutely fantastic this season. They have had seven meets, and only have two more to go. They have won every meet, making them undefeated once again.

The coach said “I told them their goals should be about reaching their maximum potential and as a team pushing themselves to their limits.”

The girls will definitely be going to Sectionals. After Sectionals the top 8 girls in the state go to finals. Tudor explained how she is trying her hardest this season to make it to state finals. She said some people may not realize how big of a commitment the Shen swim team makes. “It is a huge commitment,” said Tudor.  “We swim three hours a day, six days week.

The girls just have to keep striving and doing their best. If they win the two upcoming meets, they will be undefeated for three consecutive regular seasons.
